Family Mix Up

“This is ridiculous! Have you and Dad not fixed the machine yet? Being you is such a drag. Your job is so boring, plus the guys in your office are very handsy. Erm… why are you wearing just underwear?” said Amy as she noticed her mother, who due to her and her dad’s stupid experiment had swapped their bodies around, was only wearing a bra and underwear.

“Well, I thought, as I’m temporarily young again, I might as well enjoy your body,” said Debra as she fixed some cables on the machine that had caused the little swap.

“That’s creepy, Mum!” said Amy, but Debra assured her daughter it was innocent enough just a little fun. Amy didn’t see it that way. She saw her mother enjoying her body while she was stuck in her much older one.

“How long until the machine is fixed, Mum? You and Dad should not bring stuff like this home. It’s dangerous!”

As Amy watched her mother work on the machine, her father Frank walked into the room in her brother Dominic’s body. He also had a noticeable spring in his step. Amy got the feeling her parents were enjoying their time in her and Dominic’s much younger bodies.

“Hi, Pumpkin!” said Frank.

Amy cringed. Hearing her brother’s voice call her “Pumpkin” was horrible.

“Don’t call me that, Dad. Not while you’re in Dominic’s body.”

Her dad apologised and helped Debra fix the machine.

“Fixed!” they both said, and Amy was relieved to hear it. She wanted out of her mother’s body and back to being young again.

They waited for Dominic, who returned from their dad’s job completely exhausted. He was also happy to hear the machine was working again.

Standing around it together, Debra switched it on. The machine lit up and a bright flash filled the room.

“Oh my God!” shouted Amy as she looked down at her brother’s body.

“Well… that kind of worked,” said Debra from her husband’s body.

Dominic stood there in shock, staring at his mother’s hands, while Frank stood awkwardly in the body of his daughter.

“Damn it, it’s broken again! Sorry, guys. Might need another day or two to fix it.”

On hearing this, Amy ran from the room screaming. She could not believe she now had to spend another two days stuck in her brother’s body, knowing her dad was in hers.

When they finally got the machine working again, it looked like everyone had swapped back correctly 

until Debra’s body suddenly let out a loud “Meow!”

The family cat, Muffin, had wandered into the room just as the flash went off.

The problem was the machine had broken again…

and Debra had been the only one who knew how to fix it.
